"Every So Often I Get My Hands On A Material So Rare, So Unpredictable, And So Beautiful... That I Have No Choice But To Turn It Into A Fidget. This Is Where Those Land."

(There are only ever a handful. When they're gone, that exact piece is gone — usually forever. Read on before you scroll down.)

Dear Fellow Fidget Addict,

Let me tell you about the strangest part of my job.

Most of what I make, I can plan. I know roughly what a titanium Toad is going to look like before I've cut it. I know how a zirconium Skelly is going to feel before it's off the machine. After all these years and an honestly obscene number of designs, I've got a pretty good instinct for it.

And then... there are the Exotics.

These are different. These are the ones where I get hold of a piece of material that's genuinely rare — Crystalized Titanium, Damascus, Timascus, mokume, copper-and-brass combinations, the strange and wonderful stuff — and the truth is, I don't fully know what I'm going to get until it's done.

That's not a weakness. That's the entire point.

What Makes A Slider "Exotic"?

It's a fair question, because I throw the word around and I owe you a straight answer.

A regular Magnus slider is built from superb materials — titanium, zirconium, brass, stainless. Materials I trust completely and have machined a thousand times.

An Exotic is when I go a step beyond that. It's when the material itself becomes the star of the show:

Crystalized Titanium — heat-treated until the surface erupts into a frosted, fractured, almost galaxy-like pattern. No two are ever the same. Not "similar." Never the same. Damascus & Timascus — layered, folded, etched metals that ripple with organic, flowing grain. The pattern runs through the material, not just on the surface. Copper, Mokume, and one-off combinations — the experiments, the world-firsts, the "I wonder if I can even do this" pieces.

Here's the thing I need you to understand:

With an Exotic, the pattern is created by the material and the process — not by me. I can guide it. I can coax it. But I can't dictate it. Which means the exact piece you're looking at on this page is, quite literally, the only one of its kind that has ever existed or will ever exist.

You're not buying "a model." You're buying that specific object.

Why I Make These (Even Though They're A Pain)

I'll be honest with you — Exotics are not the sensible business decision.

The materials cost a fortune. They're harder to machine. They're unforgiving. The failure rate is higher. And because every single one is a one-off, I can't lean on any of the efficiency I'd normally get from making a batch.

So why bother?

Because lately I've been getting an enormous amount of enjoyment out of simply trying things — regardless of whether I think they'll be "popular." Pushing materials I haven't fully tamed. Chasing finishes I'm not sure will work. Finding out what happens.

Some of the results surprise even me. And those are the ones that end up here.

If you've followed me for a while, you know I'm a bit obsessive (read the About page if you want the full, slightly unflattering picture). The Exotics are where that obsession runs completely off the leash — in the best possible way.

What You Can Expect On This Page

This isn't a fixed product. It's a rotating drop.

Every so often — often on a Saturday — I'll release a small handful of Exotic sliders here. Different models, different materials, different patterns. A few Toad Smooths one week. A Shockwave or two. A Turtle. A crystalized one-off I couldn't help myself with.

What stays the same is the engineering underneath the beauty:

Magnet Layout: 2 x 4 (true 3-click)

The Slide: The same crisp, deliberate, deeply-satisfying click I've spent years perfecting

Dimensions: The classic, pocket-friendly 48mm x 30mm footprint (give or take, depending on model)

Plates: Premium sliding plates (Zirconium and similar) for that clean click

Built & shipped: By me, from New Zealand

(Most pieces ship within 48 hours — unless it's the weekend.)

So you get the best of both worlds: a slider that performs exactly the way a Magnus slider should... wrapped in a material you'll struggle to find anywhere else on earth.

A Word On Price (And Why These Cost What They Cost)

Let me be upfront, because I'd want the same from someone selling to me.

Exotics sit at the top end of what I make. Where a standard slider might run a couple hundred dollars, an Exotic will typically ask more — and occasionally a lot more, depending on the material and how brutal it was to produce.

I'm not going to insult you by pretending these are cheap.

But here's how I think about it — and it's the same way I've thought about quality my whole life: a rare, beautifully-made object that you'll carry, fidget with, and admire for the rest of your life isn't an expense. It's one of the few purchases that actually gets better value the longer you own it.

You could buy a fistful of plastic sliders for the same money. They'll be in a drawer — or a bin — within a month. Or you could own a single, genuine, one-of-one piece of functional art.

You already know which type of person you are. That's why you're still reading.

The Honest Bit About "Imperfections"

Every now and then you'll see an Exotic on this page marked down slightly, with a note like "core not perfectly centered" or "small mark on plate."

I want to explain that, because it matters to me.

I hold these to impossibly high standards. When something doesn't quite meet my own (frankly unreasonable) bar — but is still a superb, fully-functional slider — I don't hide it and I don't bin it. I tell you exactly what the quirk is, knock some money off, and let you decide.

That's not a flaw in how I do business. That is how I do business. Total honesty, every time. If anything I ever send you isn't right, you tell me, and I make it right — immediately.

Here's The Only Real "Catch"

There's no fake countdown timer on this page. No "only 3 left!" gimmick.

The scarcity is just... real.

When I drop a handful of Exotics here and they sell, they're gone. And because the material and pattern can never be exactly reproduced, that specific piece doesn't come back. Ever. There's no "restock." There's no "v2 in the same finish." It existed, someone grabbed it, and now it lives in their pocket instead of yours.

I genuinely lose track of how many emails I get that start with "is the [whatever] coming back?" — and I hate having to write back and say no.

So if something on this page is making you feel that little tug... I'd listen to it.

To impossibly high standards,
Magnus

P.S. — Exotics move faster than almost anything else I release, precisely because there's only ever one of each. If you see one below that speaks to you and the button still says "ORDER NOW" rather than "SOLD OUT" — that's the universe being unusually kind to you. I wouldn't push my luck.

P.P.S. — New here? These pieces are the deep end of what I do. If you want to understand the obsession behind them first, read my [About page] — fair warning, it explains rather more about me than is strictly necessary. Then come back and pick out something nobody else on the planet will ever own.
