Saturday LAUNCH

For the last few weeks we have launched something on a Saturday (as opposed to the random drops through the week).

It's been working well and we have some really good stuff coming up over the next few weeks. This week it's actually a bit similar(ish) to a recent week ...Toad "Skelly" Fine.

It's going to be a bit more emphasis on Brass this time. And, because there is not too many of them, I'm going to offer some fully-polished Titanium "Pulse" slider ...because I've had quite a lot of requests for more of these.

Remember...

It's always the same day and the same time (like the "Vault" and "Reload" drops).

More NEW Designs

We've been leaning a bit more into "fat" designs recently.

We're not doing big runs of them ...just 4 to 8 of them here and there. The software we created to help us design sliders (I talked about it in the last blog post) has allowed us to move a big faster in developing and producing new designs.

One design that came through recently was the "Pangolin":
It's one of those sliders that has an "X" factor feel to it. The size, shape and weight just seems to hit that sweet spot ...for me at least.

In terms of looks and aesthetics, then I don't feel it has that "X" factor - it kind of looks like this guy:
We have sold a few of them (they went quickly).

I can see there is one left. But I'm definitely going to do another run.

Magnet Strength In Sliders

We used to only put N45 strength magnets in sliders - it was a nice, balanced middle-ground.

But here's the cold, hard truth...

We would get emails saying they were too strong ...AND ...we would get emails saying they were too weak.

After many years I got to understand that sliders are VERY personal. The style, shape, size, weight, plates, material, magnet strength ...and so on.

The best solution is to put the magnets in that feel the most optimal for that slider ...and, if it doesn't feel quite right for the customer, they can switch out the magnets themselves.

We typically use N42 and N52 (but also N45 and N48 sometimes).

Here's our "ugly but practical" magnet store and dispense station. We designed and 3D printed them in-house. It's a simple solution - but the life-improvement feeling is a solid 10 out of 10! :-D
The (mostly accurate) criteria we us is:

If the weight of the 2 x Slider Bodies and 2 x Slider Wear Plates is 68g OR LESS ...then we put N42 magnets in.

If the weight of the 2 x Slider Bodies and 2 x Slider Wear Plates is 69g OR MORE ...then we put N52 magnets in.

BUT, we're not 100% stuck on this - because sometime we will go by "feel" on any particular slider and adjust what we put in based on that.

Like I said...

It's literally an impossible task to keep everyone happy in this regard - but what we've been doing for the last few months seems to be the best solution we've had so far.

A "Warranty" Update For Some Sliders

In previous Skelly models made of soft materials, you put a seperate steel thread post in. My Skelly’s in Ultem and Brass have that. This would be the solution and in the solution that most makers have settled on for soft metal sliders.
